Assemble Entertainment, based in Wiesbaden, Germany, and the Norwegian indie developer Lugn Games have released a Steam demo for their new adventure title, Kioku: Last Summer.

Kioku: Last Summer follows the journey of Asti, a young girl spending her first summer on the island of Kioku. Players can explore the island by bicycle or on foot. Building relationships with the islanders unlocks new stories and locations. The game also features minigames such as crab fishing and a monster-collecting game called 'Marubi'.

Completing quests reveals hidden areas, introduces new characters, and unlocks unique activities. The developers stated that 'every day is filled with surprises as you solve mysteries, uncover secrets, and help the islanders with their personal challenges,' adding that they designed the island to feel like a living, dynamic, and constantly evolving space throughout Asti’s unforgettable summer adventure.

The island of Kioku is a remote location a 45-minute ferry ride from the mainland, featuring a blend of Scandinavian and Japanese culture. It includes lush forests, towering mountains, and charming streets. Notable locations include the village, the pier, the school, the forest, Tin Mountain, Zod’s apple orchard, Mut’s Island, and a mysterious shrine.

Kioku: Last Summer is scheduled for release on PC later this year, and a demo is currently available on Steam. Official support for the Korean language has not yet been confirmed.
