Crimson Desert has been on a redemption arc through consistent patching, climbing from a 'Mixed' initial Steam reception to a 'Very Positive' rating.

Crimson Desert had a bit of a rocky start. While the visual fidelity and technical optimization were praised, the narrative felt rather pedestrian and the controls were, quite frankly, a nuisance. This led to a massive launch peak of 239,000 concurrent players within two hours, yet the user sentiment was stuck at 'Mixed (62%)'.

The developers took note, rolling out three major patches on the 23rd, 26th, and 30th. They finally added dedicated hotkeys for menu navigation on keyboard and mouse, and you no longer need to mash buttons to sprint; a simple hold now does the trick. On top of that, they’ve ironed out a laundry list of complaints regarding combat balancing, graphical glitches, and general quality-of-life improvements.

With these successive updates shoring up the game's rougher edges, the Steam user reviews climbed to 'Mostly Positive' by the 23rd, and by the 30th, they hit 'Very Positive (96,152 reviews, 81% positive)'. Daily peak concurrent players also saw a new high of 276,000.

The development team stated, "We have been listening intently to player feedback post-launch and are doing our absolute best to steer the game in a better direction." If they keep this momentum, the ratings might climb even higher.

Elsewhere in the charts, Gray Zone Warfare jumped to 5th place following its 0.4.0 patch and a 33% discount. NBA 2K26 also saw a boost to 10th place with a 75% price cut. Dead by Daylight, which surged during its Bloodmoon event on the 26th, has slipped to 7th, while Helldivers 2 has clawed its way back into 6th.

In the daily peak concurrent players top 20, ARC Raiders climbed to 11th with 147,289 players. Meanwhile, Warframe dropped out of the list after the 'Jade Shadows' update was met with criticism for "forcing the same repetitive gameplay loops."
