If your Steam Wishlist has become a chaotic graveyard of hundreds of titles, Valve has finally rolled out a quality-of-life update that you should pay attention to.

Valve officially announced the update via its news page on the 23rd. The Steam Wishlist has long served as a digital waiting room for prospective purchases, a feature that developers frequently utilize as a marketing tool.

While the previous version allowed for basic sorting and filtering—letting users highlight discounts or arrange games by title, release date, or review scores—it lacked true organization. The newly introduced category feature finally allows players to create custom buckets to sort their hoard of games.

Each title in the list now features a 'Category' field. Clicking this allows users to assign the game to a custom-made group, which can be easily accessed below the Wishlist search bar. Better yet, users can now assign a category directly from the Steam store page when adding a new title to the Wishlist.

Beyond simple sorting, Valve has bolstered the search function with auto-complete. If a demo for a game on your Wishlist drops, the platform will now highlight the information and ping you with a notification. Furthermore, users can now generate URLs to share specific filtered lists or custom categories with friends and family.

Valve also overhauled the gifting experience. The guest checkout feature, once limited, has been expanded to cover all game purchases. The introduction of email-based gifting makes sharing games and gift cards a breeze, while the new cross-region gifting automatically handles currency conversions. Finally, the improved shareable links mean even those without a Steam account can view your list and purchase gifts for you.
