Kakao Games has made a strategic investment in BackendX, an AI-powered backend development and operations automation service provider.

BackendX boasts solution technology capable of drafting software blueprints using only natural language and automatically building, deploying, and operating backends through roughly 50 AI agent pipelines.

BackendX CEO Moon Dae-kyung previously served as the Head of the New Technology Development Division and Server Team Leader at Nexon Korea, and also acted as the CEO of iFunFactory, a specialized game server engine developer. BackendX was established in July of last year and is currently taking pre-registrations from users ahead of its official service launch on July 7.

As the 'vibe coding' market grows—allowing users to build apps without being professional developers—Kakao Games highly evaluated the potential of BackendX, which possesses backend solutions capable of supporting various aspects like service operation and deployment.

Through this, Kakao Games expects to achieve several effects that enhance game development and service capabilities, including ▲ early discovery of indie and small-scale game developers and the expansion of future acquisition and publishing pipeline linkages, and ▲ providing the BackendX service to small-scale developers with whom publishing contracts have been signed, thereby strengthening Kakao Games' competitiveness.
