Look, let's be honest, a special live broadcast was held to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Nintendo's flagship IP, The Legend of Zelda.

Nintendo held The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on the 8th, revealing various details including The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (hereinafter Ocarina of Time). During the event, a live gameplay demonstration of Ocarina of Time explained how this classic masterpiece has been reinterpreted with modern technology, alongside a sweeping array of expanded IP content events encompassing films, concerts, and exhibitions.

First up is Ocarina of Time, a software exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 that breathes new life into the 1998 masterpiece. Scheduled for release on November 5, this title features visuals that highlight fairy-tale aesthetics and precise background details capturing the beauty of nature. Furthermore, compared to the original, it boasts vastly enhanced free camera movement and manual jumping features, alongside a modern control scheme utilizing microphone pitch recognition and an experience where the game syncs with a physical ocarina.

A slew of media expansion contents designed to tickle the nostalgia of the original fans were also introduced. The live-action film, confirmed with the title simply set as 'The Legend of Zelda' without a subtitle, is currently in production with a targeted release date of April 30, 2027. This release date is brought forward by about a week compared to the initial announcement. In addition, a 40th-anniversary orchestra tour covering everything from early electronic chimes to grand orchestral pieces will kick off in Japan early next year, followed by sequential stops across North America, Europe, Oceania, and other regions worldwide.

The offline hub, the Nintendo Museum, will also issue limited admission tickets and showcase historical exhibits starting from September 9, while a photo zone shaped after the legendary sword is set to open in November. Opening this autumn, the 'Super Family Restaurant' will offer dining experiences alongside iconic characters. Beyond that, a colorful lineup of collectible merchandise including limited edition toys and exquisite physical replicas will be rolled out sequentially.

Integration features with the mobile environment were also revealed. The mobile app, Zelda Note, is an application providing daily exploration logs, photo storage, and location tracking quests. Players can complete various quests to earn sheet music points and play along with the music. Additionally, a trivia quiz mode related to Ocarina of Time will be presented. Collectible content tailored for mobile users, such as daily commemorative trading cards and a dedicated calendar, will also be provided.

Finally, the Nintendo Switch 2 Anniversary Edition commemorating the 40th anniversary was unveiled. Based on a Triforce theme design with green and gold exteriors, it maximizes the charm of The Legend of Zelda series. A Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller and a Nintendo Switch 2 carrying case featuring the same design will also make their debut. All three products will launch ahead of the game on October 29.
