Bethesda Game Studios and Sweden's iconic furniture manufacturer IKEA have teamed up to release a rather eccentric 'official mod'.

On the 9th, IKEA launched a brand-new mod called 'Kallax Storageborn' for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Sporting IKEA's signature white shelving unit design, Kallax Storageborn doubles as a loyal companion tagging along on the protagonist's journey. The name adds a cheeky touch by playing on 'Dragonborn', a core element of the game.

Voiced by actor Matt Berry, Kallax Storageborn is a companion packed with extensive dialogue and various interactions. Exceeding the inventory weight limit in-game naturally triggers a new quest, during which the player can directly assemble the storage unit to expand its holding capacity. This journey ultimately leads to the grand task of tidying up the clutter and chaos plaguing the continent, fulfilling its ultimate purpose as a piece of furniture. It can even be summoned using a Shout, boasting quite the formidable presence.

Alongside this update, a variety of IKEA-themed goodies have been rolled out, including new quests, exploration areas, boss-tier enemy types, and exclusive gear. Players can get their hands on items such as a helmet inspired by IKEA's signature meatballs and weapons modeled after furniture assembly tools.

Meanwhile, PC and Xbox players can immediately download and apply Kallax Storageborn via the official creation club or in-game menu. PlayStation versions will receive the update at a later date.
