Look, let's be honest, Ukrainian developer Triomatica Games has added Chapter 2 to the demo of their theatre-themed logic puzzle game, I Want to Play the Villain!, to celebrate the Steam Next Fest. The Steam Next Fest is running from October 19 to October 26, and the updated demo has been playable since the event kicked off on October 19.

With this new Chapter 2 update, the playtime for the I Want to Play the Villain demo has effectively doubled compared to when it only offered Chapter 1. Chapter 2 ramps up the difficulty by introducing characters who are much harder to keep happy, giving everyone a proper sneak peek at the general vibe of the full game. Rest assured, the 18 challenges from Chapter 1 are still packed into the demo as well.

The game operates as a logic puzzle where players assign suitable roles to actors up on a theatre stage. Each actor comes with their own unique ambitions, fears, and desires, meaning the director has to rearrange the casting, alter the storyline, and use solid logical deduction to craft a flawless performance that satisfies every single actor. You solve these puzzles by handing actors their dream roles, pairing them up with the right partners, or steering them clear of scenarios that terrify them. Each chapter serves up a brand new experience complete with its own unique setting, characters, mechanics, and story.

The full version of I Want to Play the Villain is scheduled to launch on PC, PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and mobile in the first quarter of 2027. Meanwhile, a standalone free mobile version of Chapter 1, titled Villain!, is already available for download on mobile devices. The game will support 13 languages, including Korean, right at launch.
