Look, let us be honest: Bandai Namco Entertainment dropped the first proper details on the brand-new online team battle action game, Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3, on the 29th. Coming to PS5 and Steam as a free-to-play title, this is the latest entry in the ongoing Battle Operation series.

The developer boasts that the newcomer serves up sharper graphics than its predecessor, dialling up the weight of the mobile suits, map design, and avatar details to drag players deeper into the cockpit. More importantly, units from alternative universes—long demanded by fans—are finally joining the roster. Right at launch, fan-favourites like the BuCUE from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED will roll out, with units from two to three other series scheduled to drop sequentially within the first year of service.

The core online team battle system gets a hefty tune-up, too. Every single mobile suit now packs a game-flipping SP Skill to sharpen individual unit personalities. Meanwhile, a new battle assist feature lets players pull off combos without wrestling complex controls. Thankfully, the beloved strategic combat tango between giant mobile suits and infantry from the previous game remains intact. Cross-play across PS5 and Steam ensures players worldwide can jump into the fray together.

To celebrate the reveal, Bandai Namco is rolling out a handful of promos and events. Over on the official Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 website, a campaign is handing out Premium Supply Ticket codes for players of the currently running mobile title SD Gundam G Generation Eternal. This follows hot on the heels of the Gundam Game 40th Anniversary Special broadcast on the 28th, where the development team broke down the latest scoop firsthand.
