Look, let's be honest, the global community has been sent into a bit of a spin after a leaked video surfaced, heavily alleged to be a remake of Atlus's Megami Ibunroku Persona.

Spreading across overseas forums on October 31, the roughly two-minute clip bears the title Persona: Be Your True Mind. The timing of this leak is quite the cheeky coincidence, landing right before the announcement of a series 30th-anniversary collaboration.

Japanese gaming merchandise manufacturer Algernon Product took to X to announce a Persona 30th-anniversary event. Following that, on November 1, the manufacturer dropped a P30 Anniversary illustration in collaboration with artist Kei Mochizuki, showing a glimpse of someone who looks suspiciously like the protagonist of the first game, while teasing a full reveal of the character for 5:00 PM on November 2. The leaked video also features a figure rocking a similar earring and school uniform to the illustration.

Naturally, public opinion on the authenticity of the video is split right down the middle. Those convinced it is the real deal point out that Erika's summoning animation is practically identical to Yukiko's moves in Persona 4 Revival, which is slated for release on February 18, 2027. This has sparked speculation that it might be an internal pitch video for an early series remake. On the flip side, sceptics argue it is just an AI-generated mishmash cobbled together from existing assets.

Of course, this is not the first time unreleased details about the series have slipped out early. Persona 3 Reload, launched in 2024, suffered a five-second development footage leak back in April 2023 before any official announcement. Earlier this year, images for Persona 6 leaked in June, followed by a list of story spoilers tucked inside Steam achievements in September.

Meanwhile, P-Studio General Producer Kazuhisa Wada spoke during an interview with an overseas outlet last August regarding the prospect of a Megami Ibunroku Persona remake. interviewWada noted, "I cannot confirm anything at this point, but personally, I think it is something that needs to be done," expressing a very firm determination by adding, "I believe we simply must do it."
