In the Netmarble N2-developed and Netmarble-published MMORPG 'RF Online Next', a developer has been caught generating items without authorization to sell them, pocketing approximately 5 million KRW in the process.

The details were announced on the official RF Online Next forum on the 10th. Netmarble launched an investigation after receiving reports from players regarding a suspicious influx of '+10 Anti-Gravity Drives' on the marketplace, noting the absence of system messages announcing successful high-level enchantments.

The investigation confirmed that the culprit was an internal employee who manipulated the database to boost Anti-Gravity Drives to +10 before selling them for profit. Netmarble stated, "The individual in question, a member of the Netmarble N2 development team, accessed the database directly to force the enchantment level to +10," confirming that "approximately 5 million KRW was converted into cash."

The incident was reported to customer service on July 6th, and an investigation began on the 7th. By the 8th, the company confirmed the illicit item generation and transaction history. The account was permanently banned, and the employee was removed from all duties.

On the 9th, the company established initial countermeasures. The 16 illicitly generated items are being recovered. Players who purchased these items will receive a full refund in Diamonds, plus a 50% bonus in Diamonds as compensation. Furthermore, any gear replaced by these items or resources spent during the process will be restored. Finally, all players will be gifted 1,000 MAU Enhancement Nodes.

Regarding prevention, Netmarble plans to minimize database access for internal staff, audit all operational management tools, and introduce an automated lock system for items displaying abnormal enchantment data. The employee responsible faces an internal disciplinary committee and impending civil and criminal litigation. Further details on these disciplinary measures will follow.
