A court has ordered Wi Jong-hyun, the president of the Korea Game Society, to pay 30 million KRW in damages following allegations regarding Wemade's P2E (Play-to-Earn) lobbying activities.

On the 24th, the 15th Civil Division of the Seoul Eastern District Court (presided over by Judge Cho Yong-rae) ruled that Wi Jong-hyun must compensate Wemade 30 million KRW in a defamation suit brought by the company over claims of false information. The court further noted that the remainder of the plaintiff's claims were dismissed.

The dispute traces back to May of two years ago, when Wi Jong-hyun publicly raised suspicions about P2E lobbying. At the time, Wi Jong-hyun insisted that rumors of P2E companies and associations lobbying the National Assembly had been circulating for years, calling for a thorough investigation into lawmakers and their staff. Wi Jong-hyun specifically pointed a finger, stating, "I believe Wemade is at the center of these activities."

Wemade responded by stating that the accusations were an attempt to "paint legitimate corporate activities with an immoral brush." In May of that same year, Wemade filed a criminal complaint against Wi Jong-hyun for defamation via the publication of false information, followed by a 500 million KRW civil suit in late July. While the criminal complaint was dismissed by the police in April of last year, the civil matter has now reached this latest verdict.
