After raising PS5 prices in Europe and Australia back in April, Sony has now increased the prices for the entire PS5 lineup in the US.

Sony announced via its official newsroom that, effective from the 21st, all PS5 models in the US will see a price increase. The PS5, PS5 Digital Edition, and PS5 Pro are all rising by $50, bringing the new recommended retail prices to $549.99, $499.99, and $749.99 respectively.

Regarding the reason for the price hike, Sony stated, "Like many global companies, we are navigating a challenging economic environment," and added that the firm had to make the "difficult decision" to raise the recommended retail prices for PS5 consoles in the US starting on the 21st.

Some analysts suggest that this console price adjustment is a result of the Trump administration’s reciprocal tariff policies. Indeed, during Sony’s earnings call in May, CFO Lin Tao, when asked about potential losses and countermeasures regarding US tariff policies, remarked that the company was "considering overall hardware price increases."

Meanwhile, a representative for Sony Interactive Entertainment Korea noted that the local office has "not received any information regarding domestic pricing." If this hike is indeed linked to US tariff policies, it is unlikely that prices in South Korea will follow suit.
