Wemade is clearly putting its foot on the gas regarding its stablecoin ambitions. Having already integrated USDC.e into the WEMIX 3.0 mainnet and filed trademarks for WEMIX-based stablecoins like KRWWMX and WEKRW, the company is wasting no time. At the 'Project Stable One' event held on the 18th, Wemade officially declared its entry into the Korean Won stablecoin market and unveiled 'Stable One', a dedicated blockchain mainnet. The event provided a deep dive into the vision behind Stable One and Wemade's insights into the future of Won-backed digital assets.

Wemade is positioning itself as the frontrunner for Won-backed stablecoins, aiming to lead what the company calls the 'globalisation of K-Finance.' The company presented a clear blueprint, highlighting three core pillars: ▲ solving current friction and uncertainty through the mass adoption of Won-backed stablecoins, ▲ building a high-performance blockchain tailored specifically for stablecoins using their existing technical expertise, and ▲ providing infrastructure that prioritises transparency and stability.

Wemade Vice President Kim Suk-hwan stated, "Just as K-Culture found success through global platforms, the Korean Won can create a new wave of financial 'Hallyu' by meeting the innovative platform of stablecoins."

Wemade also touted four major financial innovations that these stablecoins would bring: ▲ securing transparency through transaction tracking, ▲ increasing administrative efficiency for government grants and tax collection, ▲ improving financial inclusion for small business owners, and ▲ revolutionising payments and settlements through cheaper, faster real-time international remittances.

Wemade then introduced 'Stable One,' a next-generation infrastructure built upon seven years of blockchain expertise. Wemade CTO Ahn Yong-un described the project, stating, "Stable One is a blockchain designed to compete with global stablecoin issuers, ensuring global compatibility, high-performance data processing, and full compliance with regulatory and security standards."

Ahn added, "Stable One possesses the technical prowess to be optimised for both the global market and the domestic environment." The network is 100% compatible with Ethereum, where most current stablecoins circulate, allowing existing services to migrate without any modifications. Furthermore, it boasts high-speed processing capabilities exceeding 3,000 transactions per second, more than enough to handle the volume of domestic mobile payments.

The network also supports 'native fees,' allowing transaction costs to be paid directly with the stablecoin being issued. For corporate partners, it offers dedicated processing space to prioritise business transactions and provides APIs optimised for domestic financial IT networks, aiming to boost both user convenience and operational stability.

A technical demonstration followed, showcasing how Stable One operates. The team walked through the issuance, bridging, burning, and transfer of a placeholder stablecoin dubbed 'KRC1,' and even demoed a live payment scenario at a virtual merchant to prove the practical utility of the network.

The Stable One chain is currently undergoing internal testing. Wemade plans to release the source code as an open-source project by October, excluding certain financial infrastructure add-ons. The testnet is scheduled to launch in November, with the official mainnet release slated for the first quarter of next year following stability verification.
