Mind Diver is a deduction game with a distinct structure that immediately calls to mind the likes of 'Return of the Obra Dinn' or 'The Case of the Golden Idol'. You play as a 'Mind Diver', someone operating within an experimental, albeit officially unrecognised, technique to delve into the human psyche. Your task? To explore the consciousness of a woman named 'Rina' and piece together the fragments of a mystery.

The setup is simple enough: Rina attends a party with her boyfriend, 'Sebastian', only to wake up the next day with a blank slate where her memories of the event should be. To make matters worse, Sebastian has vanished. As a Mind Diver, you must navigate her fractured psyche to reconstruct the truth, eventually unearthing the hidden secrets of the party, Sebastian, and Rina herself.

When you jump into the game, you’re tasked with reconstructing the party scene. You’ll see various characters frozen in place—Rina holding something, Sebastian chatting with someone—but because Rina’s memory is hazy, the scene is incomplete. It’s up to you to listen to her internal narration and place the correct objects or people to fill in the blanks.

For instance, you learn early on that Rina picked up a strange object from the floor, but all you see is a 'memory void'. By following her description, you have to hunt through the scene for the right object—in this case, a bizarre device resembling a headset. Slotting it into her hand restores the memory, sharpening the scene and revealing further clues.

Sometimes the missing piece of the puzzle isn't an item, but a person. You’ll need to deduce their correct position based on Rina’s recollections, surrounding objects, and documents. Sharp observation is your best friend here. Don't worry about being wrong, though; there’s no penalty for a failed restoration, just a prompt to try again. It’s a forgiving way to trial-and-error your way to the truth.
