Nimble Neuron, a subsidiary of Neptune, has officially kicked off the pre-season for Season 9, titled 'Matsuri', of their PC title 'Eternal Return'.

During this pre-season window, players can get a preview of the new content and system changes headed to the regular season. The regular season is set to launch on the 23rd.

The theme for Season 9 is 'Matsuri'. 'Matsuri' is the Japanese word for festival, and this season is based on the fictional premise of Eternal Return test subjects visiting a traditional Japanese festival.

A season pack has been released to match the theme. The pack includes the special Hero-grade skin 'Destiny's Red Bond Garnet', two new characters, six new skins, and an ER Pass containing 'Will-o'-the-wisp Ian', 'Destiny's Blue Bond Kenneth', and 'Autumn-led Steps Yuki'.

Numerous system changes are also being applied in Season 9. First, 'BO-R1', a cute ferret, will be added to Lumia Island. BO-R1 appears at unpredictable times and locations. Opening the chest obtained by catching BO-R1 grants items that can be used in-game. A 'Strong Wind Zone Kit' that allows for rapid movement by summoning a wind zone is also being added, along with various quality-of-life improvements such as automatic food consumption, the removal of stamina, and the simplification of special materials. Finally, the paths in the 'Cathedral', 'Factory', and 'Police Station' areas have been overhauled for more convenient movement, and the locations of wildlife, objectives, and bushes have been adjusted to optimize hunting routes.

A new OST, which is released every season, has also been unveiled. The new track 'Golden Willow' features a rhythmic beat and an upbeat melody.
