HoYoverse has unveiled its new title, 'Varsapura', which is currently in development using Unreal Engine 5, and has begun recruiting for the project.

HoYoverse released the official gameplay footage for Varsapura on the 21st. Unlike the cel-shaded aesthetic of previous HoYoverse titles such as 'Genshin Impact' and 'Zenless Zone Zero', this urban fantasy game utilizes a more realistic 3D graphical style.

The gameplay footage features protagonists from the 'Shadow Emergency Alliance (SEAL)' and the 'Shadow Bureau' gliding with umbrellas and engaging in conversations with mysterious figures. The SEAL operatives' attire is reminiscent of police officers, and the game explores supernatural phenomena referred to as 'parapsychological effects'. Bizarre enemies known as 'Shadows' appear, and stealth elements have been included to allow players to sneak up on foes.

With the ability to freely travel through the city in vehicles, the overall setting feels modern. The umbrella-assisted flight, supernatural anomalies, eerie atmosphere, and grotesque enemies have led to comparisons with Remedy Entertainment’s 'Control'.

Meanwhile, HoYoverse is hiring talent to participate in the development of Varsapura. They are currently recruiting Unreal programmers, game designers, artists, project managers, and marketing staff for their Shanghai office, as well as art and design roles in Singapore, and marketing positions in Los Angeles.
