Phasmophobia, the ghost-hunting sensation that kicked off its Early Access journey back in 2020, has announced its full 1.0 release and shared its future update roadmap.

Kinetic Games released their 21st development preview on the 26th. The studio is aiming for a full 1.0 launch in 2026, with plans to support the Nintendo Switch 2. The update will also include new player character models, a revamped animation system, and map reworks.

The 'player character update' originally slated for 2025 has been pushed back to the first quarter of next year. The developers stated they need sufficient development time to ensure quality, similar to the Chronicle update. The core of this update involves customization features and a modeling overhaul, which will improve joint movement and fix body distortion issues, while allowing users to decorate their characters with free cosmetic items.

The animation system is also being improved. Specific motions such as manually opening and closing doors, switching equipment, placing items, and using sanity medication will be implemented. New animations for death and revival will also be added.

Alongside the character update, a rework of the '6 Tanglewood Drive' map will be released in Q1. While maintaining the existing layout, it will feature increased interaction elements and enhanced environmental details. Additionally, hidden lore related to the house will be placed throughout the map, providing narrative devices for players to solve mysteries.

Meanwhile, the Phasmophobia 1.0 update will include a massive system overhaul previously referred to as 'Horror 2.0'. Horror 2.0 represents the overall direction for improving the horror experience that the developers have been sharing since 2022. While specific content has not been detailed, it encompasses new ghost events, hallucinations, and improvements to ghost models.

Phasmophobia 1.0 is aiming for a simultaneous release across all platforms, with the exact schedule to be announced at a later date.
