To mark the 30th anniversary of the release of Pokémon Red and Green, the iconic, chunky Pikachu from the first generation—affectionately dubbed 'Chunky Pikachu'—is officially making its way to Korea following its Japanese debut.

This plushie is a key piece in the 30th-anniversary merchandise line-up from Japanese toy manufacturer Takara Tomy. It is a faithful reproduction of the original 1997 release, which saw over 450,000 units shipped. Standing at 40cm, the design leans heavily into the 'life-sized' concept, perfectly capturing that charming, rounded silhouette from the early days.

In Korea, pre-orders are open via the official Moncolle (Monster Collection) store from January 21 to January 30, priced at 58,000 won. Deliveries are scheduled to roll out between March 3 and April 30. Moncolle is Takara Tomy’s dedicated Pokémon figure brand, distributed locally by Korean toy specialist Academy Science.

Meanwhile, Takara Tomy has also unveiled two additional 30th-anniversary items. These include a 13cm sound-emitting Pikachu figure and a starter set featuring trios of partner Pokémon from all nine regions, spanning from Kanto to Paldea. While these particular items aren't currently listed on the Korean Moncolle store, you can still grab them via international shipping through Takara Tomy's official Japanese website.
