Square Enix has announced the latest entry in its horror mystery adventure series, 'PARANORMASIGHT'. This time, the game centers on the Japanese legend that consuming mermaid flesh grants immortality.

During the Nintendo Direct on the 5th, Square Enix unveiled 'PARANORMASIGHT: FILE38 Ise Mermaid Story'. This game is the latest installment in the mystery series 'PARANORMASIGHT', which gained recognition following the critical acclaim of its 2023 debut. The original development team returns to deliver a highly immersive mystery based on a new setting, legends, and characters.

The theme is the 'mermaid legend'. The story of mermaid flesh granting immortality is well-known in Japan, and the game treats it as a core element. The setting is Kameshima, a remote island in the Ise-Shima region where such legends are prevalent. A local boy named 'Yuzuru Minakuchi' has a strange experience while diving with a friend, where he encounters 'another version of himself' on the seabed. This event triggers a series of curses that engulf Kameshima.

From a mysterious girl and a treasure-hunting foreigner to a housewife investigating a drowned body, the stories of various characters intertwine, leading to the secrets of the mermaid hidden in history. Players can experience an ensemble mystery where they uncover the true ending by following the stories from each character's perspective.

Additionally, the game features vivid scenery recreated with a 360-degree camera, mini-games that allow for tactile experiences, and new systems not present in the previous title.

PARANORMASIGHT: FILE38 Ise Mermaid Story will be released on February 19 for Nintendo Switch and mobile (Google Play Store/Apple App Store). The PC version will be released on Steam on February 20. The game does not officially support Korean and can be played in English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
