The legendary anime series 'Evangelion' is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year with the production of a brand-new feature series. Notably, Yoko Taro, known for the bleak narratives of the 'NieR' series, has been tapped to handle the series composition and script.

Studio Khara officially announced the new project during the Evangelion 30th-anniversary event on the 23rd. Yoko Taro, famous for 'Drakengard' and the 'NieR' series, will lead the narrative, while Keiichi Okabe, who composed the music for the 'NieR' series, will be in charge of the score.

Given that both Evangelion and the NieR series are renowned for their dark worldviews, fans are highly anticipating the story Yoko Taro will craft. A key point of interest is whether the game director can successfully deliver a compelling narrative in an animation format.

Key production staff have also been revealed. Kazuya Tsurumaki and Toko Yatabe will serve as directors. Both are considered part of the 'Anno Brigade,' the inner circle of original creator Hideaki Anno, and have participated in the production of numerous theatrical films. It is notable that Hideaki Anno, the director who represents the series, is not at the forefront of production for this project.

The production will be handled by Studio Khara and CloverWorks. Studio Khara, founded by Anno, has managed the Evangelion IP and the Rebuild film series. CloverWorks is an animation studio well-known for 'Persona 5 the Animation', 'My Dress-Up Darling', and 'Spy x Family'.
