Chashu Entertainment and indienova have officially launched their souls-like indie title, Sands of Aura, on Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 as of the 26th. Alongside this console expansion, the Steam version—which originally hit the shelves in 2023—has also received a comprehensive suite of improvements and updates.

Your journey kicks off in Starspire, one of the last few refuges for humanity. From there, you are free to explore the world of Talamhel at your own pace. The vast, endless 'sandsea' that swallowed the ancient world can only be traversed via the grainwake, a nimble sailing vessel that connects the scattered islands—remnants of what were once towering mountains. Each island promises both grand opportunities and, naturally, even greater perils. An undead plague, born from an ancient catastrophe, has festered across the land, haunting every corner of Talamhel.

To stand a chance against these undead hordes, you will need to master the game's core: a complex combat system. It boasts seven distinct combat styles, dozens of armor sets, and thousands of craftable weapons with a massive array of magical upgrades. Truly, your own skill is the only limit here. Overcoming these challenges unlocks new treasures and side quests, allowing you to piece together the history of this ruined world.

You will also need to flex your leadership muscles to expand and improve Starspire. A growing community provides deeper insight into the arduous history of this dying world, while granting you extra perks and services along the way. The console release includes every update and refinement made since the game's initial debut. Notably, there are significant improvements tailored for controller play, such as a purpose-built targeting assistance system, a reworked interface for island exploration, and balance tweaks to both combat and the in-game economy.
