CFK is today (the 23rd) launching DeckLand, a location-based deck-building roguelite developed by JellySnow, into Steam Early Access. DeckLand breaks away from the usual spreadsheet-heavy combat of the genre, opting instead to make 'space' and 'positioning' the pillars of its tactical experience.

The game introduces a board-game-inspired strategy where your movement is dictated by cards, allowing you to dodge incoming fire and claim tactical high ground. You have a massive pool of over 1,000 cards to play with, and a 'card synthesis' system that lets you mash multiple cards together to forge something more potent. This Early Access version kicks off with four chapters detailing the initial journey of protagonist Rang and her ally Release, offering a hefty 20+ hours of gameplay.

The narrative draws heavily from Eastern mythology, pitting you against bosses like the God of War, Chiyou, and the legendary Korean monster Gangcheol-i. It unfolds in a non-linear fashion through 60 memory fragments presented in a flash animation style. JellySnow CEO Kim Tae-hoon notes that the idea sprouted from a childhood memory of seeing 'capsule monsters moving on a board game,' a concept that has finally crystallized after two years of development.
