The White House continues its streak of using video games for unauthorized promotional material, and this time, they have set their sights on Animal Crossing.

On the 28th, the White House took to its official X account to push a post celebrating National Agriculture Week. It is an annual US event kicking off the third week of March, designed to honor those in the agricultural sector for their contributions to the economy and food production.

The post features AI-generated images and video content using Nintendo’s flagship title, 'Animal Crossing: New Horizons', featuring Donald Trump. In the photos, we see Trump sipping tea with Animal Crossing villagers, while the video—complete with the slogan 'Make American Farming Great Again'—showcases a Trump character rendered in the game's iconic style.

The White House has a history of this, having previously used AI-generated images mixing Halo and Donald Trump for an Immigration and Customs Enforcement recruitment drive back in October last year. Furthermore, in March, they posted an image superimposing the slogan 'Make America Great Again' onto 'Pokémon Pokopia'.

As this unauthorized appropriation of games persists, gamers are rightfully fuming. Comments like 'What is the President actually doing?', 'Stop disgracing games', and 'It's frankly revolting' are flooding the discourse. Some are even raising concerns over the legal fallout, noting that 'Nintendo is notoriously trigger-happy with copyright, so they’re probably sharpening their knives as we speak.'
