While the pick rates certainly suggest magic decks are dominating the matchmaking scene, the top players are keeping things fluid by swapping compositions on the fly—a 'switching' strategy that has fast become the industry standard. Let’s dive into the stats and see how the team compositions have shifted.

Omok Enters the Fray and Instantly Claims the Top Spot with a 44.3% Pick Rate

If we had to sum up last week’s Arena in a single phrase, it would be 'Magic decks are having the last laugh.' After the live broadcast teased the 'Rin' remake and the arrival of the new magic-type hero Omok, the community was already bracing for a surge. Now that the update is live, those predictions have proven spot on. Omok hit the ground running with a 44.3% pick rate, dragging the popularity of associated heroes up with him.

The essential magic deck core has narrowed down to a three-way tie for first place: 'Omok, Reginleif, and Freyja'. While some veterans opted to skip the old Seven Knights hero 'Milia' depending on their investment levels, she still managed to secure a respectable 42.3% spot on the charts. Following close behind, the reworked 'Rin' made a long-awaited return to the meta with a 29% pick rate. That said, as research into magic decks deepens, we’re seeing a shift toward 'Melcure' in that slot, with Rin and Melcure’s popularity fluctuating based on the prevalence of defensive deck encounters.

Magic Meta Propels the 'Offensive Formation' to New Heights

As magic decks flex their muscles, the balance of formations has predictably shattered. The current trend is placing the tanky Milia in the vanguard, with the remaining four heroes in the rear, leading to a 16.7% point jump for the Offensive Formation, propelling it to the number one spot.

There hasn't been much movement in the pet rankings. 'Yu,' once considered the hard counter to defensive decks, has evolved into a general-purpose staple. Since everyone is running heroes with healing capabilities—like Reginleif for magic decks or 'Kagura' for offensive ones—Yu remains an excellent pick regardless of the opponent. 'Yeonhee,' once the poster child for magic decks, has languished in fourth place with a 2.7% selection rate.

This is the current gold standard for magic decks, boasting significantly improved survivability thanks to Omok. While Freyja and Reginleif hold the fort as the main damage dealers, the front line has seen a shake-up: Rin and Omok have replaced the previous mainstays, 'Sung Jin-woo' and Melcure.

Mind you, the magic deck theory-crafting is far from finished. The old meta teams were built without magic decks in mind, so they are only just beginning to adapt. Beyond the 'best pick' highlighted above, we are seeing variations involving Offensive Formations, the new 'Yorang' pet, and setups swapping Rin for Melcure. Players are fine-tuning their strategies based on the specific match-ups they face.

The 'LightJongHwan' Solo Reign Continues

LightJongHwan continues to dominate for the third consecutive week. Following last week’s final results, they are currently leading the mid-season round. While the vanguard is only just breaching the 6,000-point mark for the Legendary rank, this player has already pushed ahead by another 60 points. Their setups haven't changed drastically beyond the incorporation of magic decks, though there have been some minor adjustments to pets across their rosters.

The key change in the magic deck is the shift from a 2-man main dealer system to a protective formation. Freyja is now the sole focus of firepower in the rear, with Omok stepping in to replace Sung Jin-woo. While it’s hard to predict the exact skill rotation, it’s a safe bet that Omok’s guardian spirit buff is being prioritised.

As for the offensive decks using 'Pai/Kyle' as main damage dealers, the pet choice has shifted to 'Zeo' to bolster early-game burst. This provides a permanent damage increase of up to 14% and a 37% attack boost for the first three turns of the battle.

Delon’s Legion 'Bosset' and Their Magic Deck Tactics

Welcome to the Real-time Arena Analysis Lab, now operating on a global scale. With the start of the regular season, the time limit for content participation has been removed, allowing you to encounter players from various nations at any hour. We’ve categorised nationalities by the Seven Knights heroes familiar to us all. Today, we’re looking at the top-ranked player as of noon, May 6th: Bosset from Delon’s Legion.

Since the launch of Omok, the real-time Arena meta has been a 'Offensive vs. Magic' tug-of-war. Bosset is racking up points by avoiding defensive decks entirely—a trend likely driven by the need for faster matches to climb the ladder quickly. In the replay we analysed, Bosset suffered the worst possible start, losing the initiative to an offensive deck that counters their setup. To make matters worse, Freyja was stunned right at the bell, forcing a desperate recovery play.

Yet, they navigated the crisis with cool-headed precision. The sequence began by using Reginleif’s passive to cleanse Freyja’s stun. Simultaneously, 'Crack of the Universe' was triggered to apply magic vulnerability and paralysis to the opponent. It was a clever move that not only woke up Freyja but also locked down the enemy's skills.

A fierce exchange of fire followed. Once freed, Freyja unleashed 'Golden Sword Dance - Noble Golden Wind' in quick succession, exploiting the reset effect on enemy kills. While the magic deck appeared to be on the back foot mid-battle, Rin’s 'Dragon Scale Destruction' began picking off enemies one by one, even those in an immortal state. It proved that in the real-time Arena, where skill usage is fluid, traditional elemental advantages matter far less than one might think.

Seven Knights Re:BIRTH User Poll

Our last user poll surveyed preferences for the character models of the awakened heroes revealed during the SKR live broadcast. The winner was Awakened Delon. It was a neck-and-neck race against Awakened Sylvesta, but Delon pulled ahead by a hair, likely boosted by the reveal of his awakening skill animation.

Awakened Knox and Awakened Ariel competed for the third spot with similar margins. It seems Knox garnered slightly more interest than Ariel, largely due to higher expectations for his performance in PvP content, including the Arena.

Now that the new hero is out, it’s time to talk about recommended transcendence levels. In the next user poll, we want to see which transcendence level players prefer for Omok. Given their dominance in the current PvP meta, I suspect the 6-transcendence tier will be the most popular, but perhaps there's a surprise in store?
