A new 'pond' feature has been unveiled, allowing you to raise fish you've caught yourself.

Pearl Abyss announced on the 23rd that they have rolled out update 1.08.00 for Crimson Desert. The most eye-catching changes include the introduction of the pond facility and a complete overhaul of the equipment system.

First, ponds can now be installed at Wolf Hills and the Failrun encampment. You can release fish into these ponds to breed them. To get your own, you'll need to complete base construction missions, then simply release fish from your inventory or register them via management mode. As for those legendary fish that vanished before the update? They have been restored to your inventory, and you can keep one permanently without worrying about population limits or lifespans.

Furthermore, work tools like axes and shovels, previously lumped in with sub-weapons, have been moved to a dedicated tool slot. Masks and tiaras have been migrated to the armor tab, and with the new quick-swap skill, you can pull out previous gear in a flash. It is a massive quality-of-life boost for those of you tired of tedious gathering.

We also have new creatures: baby wyverns and over 20 species of small animals have joined the pet roster. Wild wyverns can now be briefly mounted after being stunned, and those baby wyverns are set to evolve into your future airborne transport. As for the characters, Cliff can now handle rifles and shotguns, while Damian and Unka have received fresh combat skills.

UI and UX improvements have also arrived. There is a new shortcut for Photo Mode, more flexible keybindings for keyboard and mouse, and you can finally right-click in your bag to toss items or inspect them in detail. They have even cut out the middleman in the tempering process—you can now upgrade instantly without selecting materials every time. Plus, map markers for the surface and the Abyss have been separated for clarity. Oh, and riding Blackstar feels much smoother now, and the cooking categories have been tidied up.

Pearl Abyss has also squashed a variety of bugs and added further quality-of-life tweaks. This update is currently live on Steam, with the Mac version rolling out shortly after.
