The Gyeonggi Content Agency (GCA) is launching its '2026 Content Legal Services Support Program' for content startups and creators in Gyeonggi Province, starting May 27th.

With the global popularity of Korean content on the rise, so too have copyright infringements and illegal distribution cases. To address this, the GCA has established this program to fill the gaps in existing legal support and empower content companies to proactively manage potential disputes.

The core of the initiative is personalised, one-on-one IP (Intellectual Property) and copyright consultations with patent attorneys. These sessions will cover crucial areas such as ▲copyright ownership ▲IP commercialisation strategies ▲and review of key clauses in content contracts. For cases with a high potential for disputes or requiring legal interpretation, separate consultations with lawyers can also be arranged.

Each company is entitled to one initial consultation, with supplementary sessions available if needed. While offline consultations are prioritised, online video conferencing is also an option. Submitting relevant materials, such as contracts or details of infringement cases, in advance will facilitate more in-depth discussions.

In parallel, the GCA plans to distribute an 'Illegal Distribution Response Guidebook' for practical use by content companies and creators. This guide will detail analyses of common infringement types and step-by-step response methods, and will also be available as a PDF file via the startup platform.

Furthermore, on-site consultation booths will be set up during educational sessions and events, allowing participating companies to resolve their IP and copyright queries on the spot.

Applications for legal consultations can be made online after pre-registering company information through the GyeonggiContent Startup Continuous Support Platformoperated by the GCA. The application process allows for selection of consultation fields and uploading of relevant documents. A self-diagnosis checklist for legal issues is also provided prior to the consultation.

A GCA representative stated, "We will focus on providing practical preventative support so that content companies are not hindered by legal issues," adding, "We encourage companies interested in copyright and IP protection to apply actively."
