Kohei Ikeda, the director who has been leading Tekken 8 alongside Producer Katsuhiro Harada, is also leaving Bandai Namco. This transition is expected to shift the leadership of Tekken 8 from a trio to solely Producer Michael Murray.

Director Ikeda announced his departure on his X (Twitter) account on June 1st. He joined Bandai Namco in 2007, contributing to the development of Soulcalibur IV, before moving on to the Tekken series. Notably, he helmed the development of Tekken 7 and 8 as director. Until now, the Tekken series has been steered by the Harada-Ikeda-Murray trio.

However, Producer Harada departed Bandai Namco in December last year and has since moved to rival SNK in May, where he established the 'VS Studio' development subsidiary. Now, Director Ikeda, a core figure in Tekken's development, is also bidding farewell. He has passed the baton to the Tekken development team, expressing anticipation for their future work and stating his own intention to pursue new challenges as a game developer.

With Director Ikeda following Producer Harada out the door, Michael Murray is the sole remaining leader for Tekken 8. The big question now is the direction the Tekken series will take under Murray's sole leadership. Meanwhile, Tekken 8 recently unveiled Kunimitsu as its first Season 3 character on the 28th, with Bob and Roger Jr. to follow. A further collaboration with the Baki series, featuring Yujiro Hanma, is planned for early next year.
