A new title in Sony's flagship 'God of War' series has been unveiled. It will chronicle the post-mortem journey of Laufey, Kratos's wife and Atreus's mother.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced 'God of War LAUFEY' from Santa Monica Studio, the latest instalment in the God of War saga, delving into events following Laufey's demise.

The Norse-inspired God of War saga saw Kratos and Atreus embark on a poignant journey to scatter Laufey's ashes atop a mountain in Jotunheim, the giants' homeland, after her funeral rites. This odyssey was instrumental in their growth as father and son.

This new instalment shifts perspective to Laufey herself. Having reached 'Evrywen', the afterlife for gods, she discovers her meticulously laid plans to protect her husband and son are in jeopardy. Driven by love, she must now navigate the treacherous realms of Evrywen.

Evrywen is a perilous place, rife with potent magic and contested by brutal gods from various mythologies vying for dominion. The recently released trailer showcases Laufey's awakening, her encounter with Sekhmet, the Egyptian goddess of war and vengeance, and fast-paced combat blending swordplay and sorcery. A talking cube named 'Phranque', who aids in battle, also makes an appearance.
