Every playable character can perform the iconic spin dash, and you will find classic series staples like rings, loops, and springs scattered throughout the levels. The game made its debut at Summer Game Fest 2026, where a trailer showcased a glimpse of the core stages.

Shunsuke Miyake, the director of this project, had some warm words to share: "First of all, a sincere congratulations on the 35th anniversary of 'Sonic the Hedgehog'." He added, "I created PICO PARK personally, and having spent 15 years at SEGA myself, this collaboration during such a milestone year is incredibly moving." He noted that the team aimed to craft a unique co-op experience, stating, "We've taken the foundation of PICO PARK and infused it with Sonic's action and gimmicks to create something only possible through this meeting of two IPs."
