The long-awaited soulslike sequel, Mortal Shell 2, has finally pinned down a concrete launch date.

Developer Cold Symmetry announced on the 8th that Mortal Shell 2 will arrive on August 20. Serving as a direct follow-up to the 2020 action RPG Mortal Shell, this installment returns us to the same grim world. Players take on the role of 'Harbinger' on a quest to reclaim the stolen eggs of the Under-Mother from a horde of monstrosities.

The most striking change here is the removal of the stamina gauge, injecting a much-needed sense of urgency into combat. This shift encourages a far more aggressive playstyle, while the signature 'hardening' mechanic—allowing players to turn their skin to stone to deflect incoming blows—is now far more fluid and accessible.

A newly released trailer offers a glimpse into the game's bleak aesthetic. It retains the visceral, gory dark fantasy roots of its predecessor, showcasing a variety of environments from gloomy battlefields to frozen, desolate wastes where players must battle for survival against countless creatures.
