On July 15th, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad officially kicked off its inaugural season, titled 'Northern Banner Selection: Frost and Steel'. Alongside the seasonal launch, the developer has fine-tuned class balance and injected a slew of new in-game elements.

For Season 1, players must pledge their swords to one of three houses—Umber, Hornwood, or Manderly—to defend the North and vie for the title of Chief Banner-man. The core loop involves grinding through repeatable content to earn 'Season Tokens', which are then turned in to climb the competitive ladder.Seasonal dungeons and regional events introduce a fresh mechanic dubbed 'Fierce Will'. By landing attacks, players build up an adrenaline gauge; once it crosses the 50% threshold, they can unleash exclusive seasonal skills to turn the tide of battle.

Class and combat balance has also been meticulously polished. The developer has reduced the charging time for key Mercenary skills and adjusted the hit detection and travel distance for the Knight’s dual-sword abilities. Furthermore, the rewards for a successful 'Perfect Guard' have been buffed, and the efficiency of weapon specialization and trait trees has been overhauled.

Beyond these tweaks, the update allows players to dismantle accessories of Hero grade or higher to obtain 'Forging Iron'. New features include a guaranteed crafting option for Hero Mastery Books and the addition of a new Altar of Memory, 'Unicorn of the Stormy Plains'. Looking ahead, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is set to introduce a 1v1 dueling mode, the 'Banner-man Duel Festival', on July 22nd. Expect a stiffer challenge here, as these NPCs are programmed to utilize defensive maneuvers and dodges just like a real player would.
