Krafton has rolled out the 42.2 update for 'PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS' and overhauled the basic training curriculum for newcomers. This update aims to help fresh recruits get to grips with the game's systems with more ease and speed.

The revamped training consists of 17 chapters, guiding players through the essentials—from basic character movement and parachuting to looting, combat, surviving the Blue Zone, driving vehicles, and even reviving teammates. Throughout the experience, a partner-concept NPC accompanies the player, providing audio guidance and radio messages to simulate a real-world combat environment. Furthermore, a new 'Beginner Training Center' has been introduced, offering daily missions over a 14-day period to provide rewards for new players.

In the Arcade, the 'Hot Drop' mode—where players engage in fast-paced combat within a condensed zone—makes a return. Alongside this, a 'Solo Deathmatch' mode has been introduced, where scores are determined by kill count and total damage dealt. Both modes are time-limited: the Hot Drop event runs until July 29, while the Solo Deathmatch runs from July 29 to August 12.

To support smooth communication between teammates, the radio message system has been updated to an icon-based radial menu. With the addition of item-specific markers and a preview feature, information sharing has been improved. The World Map has also been reorganized, consolidating the map, missions, and match logs into a single tab. For console players, graphics modes are now supported across all platforms, and the Taego and Rondo maps have received regional tweaks. Finally, the update introduces the new Contender Glacia and the 'Eternal Duo' Survivor Pass.
