The previously teased new Civilization VII leader, 'Yi Sun-sin', has finally stepped out of the shadows.

2K dropped the official First Look trailer on their YouTube channel on the 22nd. The footage features the iconic quote, "Those who seek death shall live, and those who seek life shall die," delivered with gravitas, alongside a deep dive into the leader's specific traits.

Yi Sun-sin leans into a Military and Scientific archetype. The unique ability, 'Samdo Sugun Tongjesa', allows the player to research Civilian Discipline in the Antiquity Age to train Flotilla Commanders. Once players have both a Harbor and Civilian Discipline, they receive a free Flotilla Commander; furthermore, defeating enemy units with naval forces grants Science based on a percentage of the defeated unit's Combat Strength.

Every fleet commander gains experience points whenever a Science building is constructed, and should a Flotilla Commander earn experience in battle, a bonus of gold is added to the treasury. Naturally, Yi Sun-sin shows a high affinity for civilizations that maintain a robust naval presence and fortresses, while conversely, those lacking such maritime prowess will find Yi Sun-sin's favour quite low.

The new leader 'Yi Sun-sin' is set to arrive in the July update and will be exclusive to those who have purchased the 'Art and Stone' collection DLC, which launched this past June.
