Ubisoft is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Ghost Recon series by releasing commemorative content, including a free update for Ghost Recon Wildlands. This new free expansion, titled Last Rites, is available across a broad spectrum of platforms, including Ubisoft+, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.

Developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux, Last Rites serves as a standalone story mission set in Bolivia. Players will navigate swamps and forests under the iron grip of a fanatic cult known as Los Penitentes, all while tracking down the cult leader, La Llorona. The update brings improved performance to current-gen consoles and PC, supporting 60FPS gameplay, 4K resolution, and enhanced lighting effects.

Players can customize their experience by adjusting settings such as enemy AI behavior, damage output, weapon restrictions, friendly fire, weather, and HUD. Additionally, the fan-favorite Predator event is making a comeback. Creative Director Olivier Leonardi stated, "The passion, dedication, and feedback from the community over the last 25 years are the reasons Ghost Recon exists today," adding, "Last Rites is content created to celebrate the franchise’s identity and express our gratitude to the players who have been with us on this journey."

A free trial event is also being held to mark the 25th anniversary. Ghost Recon Wildlands and Ghost Recon Breakpoint will be available to play for free until August 10, while Ghost Recon Future Soldier will be available for PC via Ubisoft Connect until August 13. In September, a free 25th-anniversary bundle will be released, featuring the M4A1 Tactical Brown, Wolf Enhanced Helmet, and O.P.H.E.S. Mk.2 Hunter.
