Nexon officially kicked off the domestic service of Blizzard Entertainment’s hit title, Overwatch, as of the 12th, marking the dawn of Season 4. By taking the reins of the local publishing duties, Nexon aims to leverage its specific expertise in live operations to bring a more tailored experience to the Korean market.

Season 4, titled 'Heroes of Busan', brings a massive update featuring D.Mon, the second Korean hero to grace the roster. As the formidable leader of the MEKA squad tasked with defending the nation against omnic threats, D.Mon pilots the 'Beast' mech, specialising in close-quarters combat with plasma blades and a sturdy shield as a tank role hero.

The narrative of Season 4 reflects the Junkertown faction’s invasion of Busan. The Busan map has seen some changes; the EMP structures are gone, replaced by a mineral spring and digital billboards that capture the local Korean vibe. Paraíso and Eichenwalde have also received a fresh coat of paint. Furthermore, players can now check out detailed profiles of the five MEKA squad members and cast their votes in the 'Shooting Star: My MEKA Mania' content.

From now until September 2, players can complete in-game quests to earn voting rights for their favourite heroes: D.Mon, D.Va, Casino, Overlord, and King. Reaching maximum popularity for a squad member unlocks their specific backstory. Additionally, quality-of-life improvements have been rolled out, including persistent team survival indicators and a glowing health effect when healing teammates.

With the start of the season, players linking their Nexon and Blizzard Battle.net accounts can launch Overwatch via Nexon.com and Nexon Plug in addition to the traditional Battle.net launcher. Naturally, Nexon is rolling out a series of events specifically for the local player base.

First off, everyone who completes the account linkage will receive five Legendary Loot Boxes, alongside a set of three cosmetic items including a 'Nexon Mari' profile card, a player icon, and a title. Those who participated in the pre-linkage period by the 11th will receive bonus rewards, such as 20 Mythic Prisms and a 'Nexon Legendary Loot Box' containing four Legendary skins.

To keep the momentum going, a 'First Login Surprise' event runs until August 23, gifting 60 Mythic Prisms to anyone who logs into Nexon's version of Overwatch. Until September 15, a daily attendance event provides Watch Points, Mythic Prisms, and credits. There is also a survey event featuring D.Va, where participants can snag MEKA player icons and 'Fresh Busan Base' profile cards.

Points earned through these events can be spent at 'D.Va’s Exchange', an exclusive in-game shop, to grab Mythic Prisms, Legendary Loot Boxes, or even enter draws for physical prizes like desk mats and gaming peripherals.

From the 14th to the 19th, players can participate in a match prediction event for the official Overwatch World Cup (OWWC). By predicting the group stage results for the OWWC Busan matches—which kick off on the 20th at the Busan e-sports stadium—all participants will receive a 'D.Mon Cinema Bestie' spray, with additional Legendary and e-sports loot boxes awarded for successful guesses.

Meanwhile, Nexon is set to host a massive offline event, 'Overwatch Day', at BEXCO in Busan on August 22 and 23. Attendees who register in advance on the official website and visit the venue can participate in a first-come, first-served giveaway to receive 10,000 KRW in Nexon Cash and a limited-edition D.Mon poster illustrated by Bobby Kim, an art developer from Blizzard Korea Studio.
