The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) is set to host the national finals for the 18th President’s Cup Amateur Esports Tournament at the Gyeongju Indoor Gymnasium from August 15 to 16.

The event will be broadcast live via Naver Chzzk, SOOP, and YouTube, with free admission for anyone wishing to attend in person.

Since 2009, the MCST has held this annual event to promote regional balance in esports and to build a sustainable ecosystem by establishing a solid foundation for amateur players.

This year, approximately 300 participants, including athletes representing 16 cities and provinces, will compete across five titles: Eternal Return, Brawl Stars, FC Online, League of Legends, and Puyo Puyo eSports.

The municipal government that secures the overall victory will be awarded the Presidential Award, while the winners of each individual title will receive the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award. Commendations will also be presented to exemplary municipal governments.

The opening ceremony kicks off at 12:00 PM on August 15 at the Gyeongju Indoor Gymnasium. Following this, the event will feature collaborative activities with the Gyeongju Waterpool Festival (running from August 15 to 23), as well as a pre-event experience program for disabled esports participants ahead of the 4th National Disabled Esports Tournament (scheduled for August 21 to 23).

An official from the MCST stated, "To take the esports industry to the next level, we must build a more robust, region-based amateur ecosystem." The official added, "The Ministry will continue to expand support for local esports tournaments alongside the President’s Cup and remains committed to providing policy-driven assistance to ensure balanced development across all regions."
