Joycity has inked an official licensing partnership with the Major League Soccer Players Association (MLSPA) and OneTeam Partners for the upcoming title Freestyle Football 2. Through this deal, Joycity has secured the rights to use the IP of MLSPA-affiliated players in Freestyle Football 2, allowing MLS athletes to be recreated as in-game characters.

Rather than simply copy-pasting real player data into the code, this partnership stands out by redesigning the player characters to fit the distinct graphical style of Freestyle Football 2. Every single MLS player will feature custom appearances tailored to the fast-paced gameplay, alongside unique signature skills that highlight their traits.

Director Park Jun-seung of Joycity's Strategic Business Division stated, "Through this collaboration with MLSPA and OneTeam Partners, we are able to bring real professional players' IP right into the game," adding, "We will craft the selected MLS athletes into unique characters tailored to the game's identity, delivering a fresh play experience for both actual football fans and gamers." Meanwhile, Dan Jones, Chief Operating Officer (COO) at MLSPA, noted, "Working with Joycity will open up a brand new channel to connect with football fans across the globe, and it is hugely meaningful for the players to meet their supporters in a completely different format."

This partnership was successfully brokered by OneTeam Partners, the group player licensing partner for MLSPA. Specific rosters, character artwork, and detailed gameplay information for the MLS players set to appear in the game will be rolled out sequentially down the road.
