Look, let's be honest—South Korea's League of Legends national team has done it again at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, sweeping past Chinese Taipei to snatch the gold medal and secure a brilliant back-to-back championship. Led by head coach Kang Dong-hoon, the powerhouse roster features Choi 'Zeus' Woo-je, Kim 'Canyon' Geon-bu, Kim 'Zeka' Geon-woo, Lee 'Faker' Sang-hyeok, Lee 'Gumayusi' Min-hyung, and Ryu 'Keria' Min-seok.

The team claimed the gold on September 2 by defeating Chinese Taipei at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. For this grand final showdown, Choi Woo-je (top), Kim Geon-bu (jungle), Kim Geon-woo (mid), Lee Min-hyung (bottom), and Ryu Min-seok (support) took to the stage, dismantling Chinese Taipei with a commanding 3-0 set score.

Prior to this, the squad brushed past Chinese Taipei, India, and Hong Kong in the group stage, before crushing Saudi Arabia 2-0 in the semi-finals. As a result, the South Korean delegation marched through the entire tournament without dropping a single set, securing a flawless, undefeated run to defend their Asian Games crown following their victory at the 2022 Hangzhou Games. Lee Sang-hyeok, making his third consecutive appearance, also shared the sweet joy of winning consecutive titles.

In this best-of-five final, the matches featured some dramatic momentum shifts. In the first set, the team overcame a deficit in core carry growth during a crucial dragon team fight, wiping out the opposition to lay the groundwork for a comeback. In the second set, the squad turned the tables in a single stroke by seizing victory in the Elder Dragon skirmish. Finally, in the third set, the South Korean team secured the gold medal safely through their trademark swift objective control and clinical macro play.

Meanwhile, the South Korean esports delegation wrapped up the competition with a total of five medals (2 golds, 1 silver, 2 bronzes), picking up one gold each in League of Legends and fighting games, a silver in Puyo Puyo Tetris (Puyo Puyo eSports), and a bronze each in Gran Turismo 7 and Pokémon UNITE.
