Bungie has opened sign-ups for the closed playtest of its upcoming shooter, Marathon.

The testing window is set for one week, running from the 22nd to the 28th of this month (local time). The test will be available on three platforms: PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam. You can register by selecting your preferred platform on the official website.

This test will feature three maps, five characters, and solo rankings. It will also showcase content updates, including narrative and combat system improvements, based on user feedback.

Marathon is an online multiplayer extraction FPS currently in development by Bungie, serving as a reboot of the 1994 Marathon trilogy. Unlike the original sci-fi FPS, it has shifted to an extraction shooter format, and its brighter visual style has drawn mixed reactions. Furthermore, previous user tests were criticized for lacking differentiation from competitors, and public sentiment worsened following reports of unauthorized use of visual and art concepts.

In response, Bungie announced in June that the release of Marathon would be delayed indefinitely from its original September 24th date. All eyes are on this test to see if the studio can turn the tide.
