The release date for the live-action adaptation based on the Chilla's Art game has been announced.

Canter Cinema has announced that the live-action film based on the game 'The Night Shift' will be released in Japan on February 20, 2026. News of the live-action adaptation was first announced last September. The film is directed by Jiro Nagae, a veteran of B-movie horror known for works such as 'Tokyo Horror' and 'Friends Games'.

'The Night Shift' is a signature horror game by Chilla's Art, originally released in February 2020. It received acclaim for its unique B-movie aesthetic and atmospheric direction, and it currently maintains a 'Very Positive' (83% positive) user rating on Steam.

The protagonist is a university student named Yukino Tazuru, who performs night shifts at a convenience store while navigating the dark streets of her town. As the story progresses, the horror atmosphere intensifies as she encounters strange events, such as automatic doors opening on their own and the arrival of eerie customers. The lead role in the live-action film is played by actress Kotona Minami, marking her first starring performance.

A representative from Chilla's Art stated, "When we released the game in February 2020, we never dreamed it would be made into a movie," adding, "We hope both those who have played the game and those who haven't will enjoy the film, so please look forward to it."
