Bandai Namco’s beloved IP, Super Robot Wars, is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a bang. During a recent official livestream, the publisher dropped announcements regarding new DLC for the latest title and confirmed the development of a remaster for the 2nd Super Robot Wars Z: Hakai-hen.

Bandai Namco Entertainment hosted the Super Robot Wars 35th Anniversary commemorative live broadcast on the 1st. The event featured a special performance by JAM Project, the group behind the series’ iconic soundtrack, along with the announcement of a complete album and fresh details on Super Robot Wars Y.

First off, the release schedule for the latest updates and paid DLC for Super Robot Wars Y is now set. The 1.4.0 free patch is slated for the 4th, with the 35th-anniversary commemorative DLC following on the 5th. This free update includes a special mission to celebrate the series hitting the 20 million units sold milestone.

The update also introduces a 'Boost Mode', which doubles experience and resource gains while slashing upgrade and development costs by half to accelerate character progression. The combat difficulty remains identical to the standard mode, ensuring the pace of growth is the only thing changing. Furthermore, the level cap has been bumped up from 150 to 200.

The paid expansion arriving on August 5th brings 33 additional area missions, 12 new weapons, 5 playable units, and 1 assist character, topped off with exclusive DLC missions. Several crossover combination attacks were showcased, including collaborations between Getter Robo Arc and the Mazinger series, offering a wide array of tactical pairings.

Finally, the studio confirmed that a remaster of the 2011 PSP title '2nd Super Robot Wars Z: Hakai-hen' is currently in development, accompanied by an official teaser. While a release within this calendar year is not on the cards, the team has teased multi-language support, heightening expectations for a Korean localization.
