A new title that lets you tinker with nostalgic electronics in mid-2000s Tokyo is currently racking up 'Overwhelmingly Positive' reviews on Steam.

Developed by Mandragora, the repair simulation 'ReStory: Chill Electronic Repair' (hereinafter referred to as ReStory) officially launched on August 7. ReStory centers its gameplay loop around running a shop and the tactile process of fixing electronic gadgets.

Players are tasked with dismantling devices, using brushes to clear dust from internal circuits, replacing broken components, and reassembling the gear. When spare parts run dry, you can order them online or scavenge bits from other devices in your inventory. Once you have successfully repaired a specific model for the first time, the disassembly and assembly steps are logged in the system, making future jobs significantly more efficient.

ReStory is packed with tech from the Y2K era. The lineup includes vintage mobile phones, Tamagotchis, digital cameras, and MP3 players that defined the decade. Thanks to an official partnership with Atari, authentic consoles are featured, alongside gear that clearly pays homage to icons from companies like Nokia and Nintendo. Once repaired, you can even customise the look of these gadgets using airbrushes and colour palettes.

Beyond the wrench-turning, there is a narrative thread woven through conversations with your clientele. Customers will either drop by the shop or reach out online to request repairs. As you work, you will find yourself at various crossroads—such as deciding whether to report sensitive data found on a retired gangster's phone to the police, or helping a student confess their unrequited love. The decisions you make influence the lives of the customers and dictate how your shop's story unfolds, leading to different endings.
