Characters from Chaos Zero Nightmare (hereafter CZN) are making their way into Epic Seven.

Smilegate hosted an Epic Seven 8th Anniversary Showcase on its official YouTube channel on August 22. Super Creative's game directors, Tak Gwang-jin and Heo Dae-gyun, appeared to detail upcoming content and anniversary events.

The real highlight is the collaboration with Super Creative's other flagship title, CZN. Characters Lenoa, Haru, and Meilin will arrive as playable Epic Seven heroes. A Moonlight version of Lenoa will be available for free during the event, while Haru and Meilin can be obtained through limited summons. The event will also feature CZN-themed content in Epic Seven's Witch Haven, including a consultation office and shop, starting in September.

A permanent roguelike mode, 'Dimension Exploration', is also being added, capturing the essence of CZN. It allows for unlimited runs without entry costs. Players start by choosing three heroes and special effects, with the party expanding to four as they progress. A tagging system allows for up to three reserve heroes, meaning players manage a total squad of seven in battle.

The mode features node-based progression where strategic depth comes from combining artifacts and hero recruitment tickets. Runs conclude upon defeating three floor bosses or total party defeat, rewarding players with archive entries and chapter pass progression. The first season is themed after the CZN collaboration, 'Journey of the Stars, The Road Home,' with more themes planned for future updates.

A Steam release is slated for the latter half of this year, supporting account linking and game controllers. A separate server will be operated for new and early-stage players to ensure a fair experience, before eventually merging with the existing pool.

Offline festivities are also on the horizon. The 8th-anniversary event, 'Succession of Eternity', will be held on August 29 at the 12th floor of Sinchon Hyundai Department Store, with 160 guests invited via ticket registration starting August 24. A collaboration cafe will also run from August 29 to September 30 at the B1 and B2 levels of the same location. Furthermore, the E7WC 2026 tournament kicks off with qualifiers on September 12, culminating in the finals on November 28 at the Lotte World Tower Superplex in Jamsil.

Numerous 8th-anniversary updates are incoming. A new side story, 'Paradise Lost', revisits the 1st Era, the earliest point in the Epic Seven timeline. Two new heroes debut: 'Lizette', a manifestation of the Goddess Diche and a Light-element Soul Weaver, brings allies back from the brink with resurrection skills. Meanwhile, 'Unknown Pioneer Politis' adapts skills based on whether they are positioned in the front or rear. The pivotal character 'Apostle of the End Kayron' also joins the roster as a playable NPC.

Anniversary skins are also on the way. The fan-favourite from the 2025 hero poll, 'Majestic New Moon Luna', will receive a Bunny Girl skin, free for all players who log in on August 27. A series of Bunny Girl skins for other Moonlight and Covenant characters will follow. A new hero popularity poll will also commence, granting participants '8th Anniversary Coins' to exchange for summons, legendary charms, and commemorative artwork.

New PvP mode 'Call of Chaos' joins the World Arena. This 3v3 arcade-style mode features rapid ban-picks and intense combat where the objective is to destroy the enemy's rear-guard Guardian. Players can apply various 'Fate Choices' to buff allies or debuff foes. Runs end after seven wins or three losses, with rewards including rank points and season currency.

Quality-of-life improvements are also arriving. Background auto-battling will now persist even when the game is closed, with the ability to queue up to 100 entries (approx. 400 battles). Auto-battle duration is calculated based on clear records, and an auto-sell/extract feature for gear is included. The 'Ogre's Armoury' will be integrated into the new 'Ogre Hunt' content, while 'Cracks' will be removed and restructured. Additionally, profile card layers increase to 130, slots to 10, and a gifting feature for friends is being added.

A massive Covenant Summon event will offer 20 free daily summons from August 27 to October 29, totalling 1,260 pulls. Starting August 27, a three-week Equipment Charm Payback event will allow players to recover a portion of their spent experience as high-grade charm chests. Cumulative rewards, including limited artifacts, 5-star hero/artifact selectors, and Natalon Academy Moonlight 5-star selectors, will also be up for grabs.

As a viewing reward, players will receive Lizette’s Ring of Eternal Bonds (Speed 20), 80 Gold Transmit Stones, 8 million Gold, and 80 high-grade charm chests. The ring will be available in the in-game mailbox following the August 27 update.
