As video game adaptations in film and animation continue to soar in popularity, Blizzard has finally made a move, partnering with Netflix to bring a brand new Diablo animation to life.

Blizzard announced its partnership with Netflix during the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2026 held on September 13. Blizzard President Joanna Farris stated, "We are producing a new Diablo animated series with Netflix. I am a Diablo player myself, and I genuinely love the darkness of Sanctuary. I am thrilled to see this project finally coming to fruition."

Farris expressed a desire to showcase the countless stories that could not be fully explored within the games through a fresh medium. In particular, Farris mentioned that "fascinating work is underway across a massive universe," hinting that this Diablo animation is just the beginning by adding, "Diablo is only the start, and there could be Overwatch, Warcraft, and perhaps other universes as well."

However, specific details will be revealed at a later date. Farris noted, "We really want to talk about it, but we need a bit more time to prepare. We will share the details with you as soon as humanly possible." Naturally, everyone is left wondering what kind of project they will ultimately deliver with Netflix.
