Natural disasters such as hurricanes and tropical storms are set to be implemented in this year's most anticipated title, GTA 6.

According to the American gaming magazine Game Informer, since GTA 6 is set in Leonida, a fictional region modeled after the state of Florida in the United States, fierce natural disasters like hurricanes and tropical storms will occur alongside clear weather.

The newly introduced weather environment showcases localized and dynamic changes. Clouds move across the entire map, forming various climates from clear skies to overcast conditions. Irregular natural phenomena are brought to life, where heavy rain pours in certain areas while immediately adjacent spots remain sunny. When extreme storms rage, rainwater pours down from street lamps and roofs, accompanied by lightning illuminating the clouds.

Owen Shepherd, Vice President of Lighting and Rendering, shared, "We redesigned the weather system to make everything much more localized and persistent," adding, "We are delivering a broad spectrum of climates, from the clear blue winter skies of Miami to the cumulonimbus clouds with lightning mostly observed on summer and autumn afternoons."

Meanwhile, GTA 6 is expected to boast a scale twice as large as its predecessor, GTA 5. Head of Development Aaron Garbut emphasized, "This new world is different. We became so obsessed with roofs, alleys, interiors, and everything in between that our interior figures reached critical mass, and you will start to feel that the inside and outside of buildings are more realistic," and noted, "This world is a cohesive whole with content density and handcrafted quality in every part."

The fictional state of Leonida is divided into six core districts: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Calaga National Park. Vice City, featuring Art Deco architecture and beaches, serves as the hub, followed by Leonida Keys, which is modeled after the Florida Keys, and Grassrivers, a wetland inhabited by wildlife. Port Gellhorn portrays the look of a declining tourist destination, Ambrosia takes on the characteristics of an industrial zone dense with factories and refineries where biker gangs extend their influence, and Mount Calaga National Park is a district focused on natural scenery.
