Look, let's be honest, HoYoverse's action title Zenless Zone Zero is about to cross paths with Honkai: Star Rail in a rather cheeky crossover.

HoYoverse dropped a hefty load of new content during the Zenless Zone Zero version 3.3 livestream on August 9. Titled 'Toward the Skies Once More', this update lands on August 21, bringing a brand new S-rank agent into the mix. Following that, version 3.4 will officially introduce the crossover with Honkai: Star Rail.

Version 3.3 dives straight into a narrative where the protagonist crew investigates the truth behind the blockade of the Buastrum downtown area, uncovering dark secrets tied to the one who brought the sun. Meanwhile, conflicts surrounding the floating island of Loscalypha escalate further. As a cherry on top, mecha robot combat joins the fray, letting pilots seamlessly switch between close-range and long-range attacks. Players can unleash laser weapons via enhanced special skills or evasion manoeuvres, while environmental puzzles and combat elements—like lobbing explosives or smashing through obstacles—add some proper flavour.

Fresh S-rank agents Phoenix and Severian are also stepping up to the plate. The first-phase character banner features Phoenix, a fire anomaly specialist, alongside Verina. Phoenix inflicts fire corrosion on status-afflicted foes and can even land critical hits on ensuing status damage. If pushed to the brink of a fatal blow, Phoenix refuses to leave the field, instead reviving with full HP restored.

The second phase introduces Severian, a wind-attribute attack character, alongside Norma. Severian automatically dodges enemy attacks before launching a counter-offensive, gathering energy upon successful evasions or specific skill hits to unleash a flurry of consecutive slashes. Character-specific EP, gameplay footage, cinematics, and side-screen themes also get a shiny new coat of paint.

Quality-of-life updates and system tweaks are also making an appearance. Fairy's recommended party lineup feature enters a trial run, helping players check team setups, positioning, and control overviews. Accessibility for agent training and strategy gets a boost with new character tutorials, accompanied by a pre-battle challenge warning notification. Promotion guides have been overhauled, and standard content entries like EX Notorious now let players grasp overall progression states at a glance. Keyboard and mouse controls on mobile devices have also been polished up nicely.

Looking ahead to version 3.4, the aforementioned collaboration event with HoYoverse's Honkai: Star Rail will roll out. This update brings fan-favourite Honkai: Star Rail characters Kafka and Robin straight into New Eridu.

In other news, HoYoverse is confirmed to attend G-STAR 2026, kicking off this November at BEXCO in Busan. Zenless Zone Zero will feature proudly among the lineup, ready to welcome players with a variety of on-site events.
