Naughty Dog head Neil Druckmann is officially stepping down from the production of The Last of Us series for its third season.

On the 3rd, Naughty Dog shared a message from Neil Druckmann via their official X account. The message, addressed to both the internal team and the fans, confirms that Neil Druckmann will no longer be involved in the production of the HBO series, The Last of Us.

According to the statement, Neil Druckmann noted that with work on season 2 finished and season 3 yet to begin, now is the perfect time to pivot fully toward Naughty Dog's future projects. Neil Druckmann stated, "I will be focusing entirely on Naughty Dog's next title, 'Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet,' in the capacity of studio head and creative lead."

Neil Druckmann added, "Producing the HBO series was the absolute pinnacle of my career," expressing gratitude toward the production team. Neil Druckmann continued, "It has been a massive honour to work alongside Craig Mazin. I am deeply thankful for the thoughtful approach and dedication shown by the talented cast and crew in adapting The Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2."

Meanwhile, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is a PS5 exclusive currently in development at Naughty Dog. The first trailer was unveiled at The Game Awards 2024, promising a unique sci-fi universe that has certainly piqued some interest.
