Riot Games unveiled key details regarding the Season 3 update for its PC MOBA game, 'League of Legends (LoL)', on the 12th. Notably, the long-awaited WASD control scheme will be introduced in stages.

First, a new 'WASD' control method is being added for new and returning players. The WASD control scheme allows movement using the W, A, S, and D keys in addition to mouse clicks, helping players who are new to or returning to LoL enjoy the game more intuitively.

Design Director Dean Ayala and Product Lead Darcy Ludington stated, “The WASD control scheme is being developed based on feedback from both new players and professional athletes,” adding, “We are preparing thoroughly to ensure that players are not forced to choose the WASD control scheme to maintain competitiveness, and we plan to introduce it in stages, starting from the LoL test server, through normal games, and finally to ranked games.”

In addition, improvements are being added to all control methods. Champion control feel is being enhanced, and a key-binding system that allows users to customize left and right mouse clicks is in the experimental stage. Furthermore, a 'dynamic camera lock' view that expands the field of view in the direction of the mouse is under development. New key bindings and camera lock features will be applied to the WASD control scheme first.

Furthermore, the anti-cheat program Vanguard is being strengthened to better detect and ban account abuse, such as account sharing and trading. Starting with patch 25.18, sanctions will be strengthened against the most common forms of account abuse: boosting (playing on someone else's account) and piggybacking (teaming up with other accounts to climb ranks more easily).

A new system, 'True Skill 2', is also being tested to improve MMR accuracy and reduce account abuse. LoL began testing this on the North American server's Summoner's Rift and ARAM in March of this year, and expanded the scope to all normal games on the Korean server starting last month.

Beyond this, LoL will introduce various new cosmetic items through the 2025 Season 3. The T1 2024 League of Legends World Championship commemorative skin is scheduled for release in September, and new Prestige skins for Sylas and Mel will also be available through the Mythic Shop. Xin Zhao will undergo a visual update in line with the Season 3 story, keeping the gameplay the same while upgrading the visual elements.
