Following the failure of Concord, expectations were high for Fairgame$, the next big live-service hope from the PlayStation camp. However, the project is facing uncertainty as a string of key personnel departures casts a shadow over its future.

Game director Daniel Drapeau left Haven Studios this August to join Warner Bros. Games Montréal as a creative director. This follows the departure of studio founder Jade Raymond back in May. Drapeau, an industry veteran known for his work on titles like Rainbow Six Siege and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, had been leading the development of Fairgame$.

The exodus of key talent appears to be linked to negative internal feedback. Various reports suggest that Fairgame$ received poor reception during internal playtests, with testers describing the gameplay as 'clunky' and 'unpolished.' Consequently, the release date has reportedly been pushed back to spring 2026.

First unveiled at the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, Fairgame$ is a heist game inspired by the modern-day Robin Hood. Players form teams to steal assets and secrets from the ultra-wealthy, featuring a blend of competitive PvP and cooperative PvE gameplay.

Meanwhile, the failure of Concord and the struggles with Fairgame$ have cast a pall over Sony’s broader live-service ambitions. Once aiming for a fleet of 12+ live-service titles, Sony has halved its target, with projects like Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us multiplayer and a God of War live-service effort being scrapped or halted. While Helldivers 2 has been a success, its service performance and reception have been volatile.

Neither Haven Studios nor Sony have issued an official response regarding the recent leadership departures or the rumors concerning the project’s delay or potential cancellation.
