Funcom, the developer that recently received acclaim for Dune: Awakening, has initiated a restructuring.

The news was revealed on the 2nd (local time) via a statement provided to the outlet GamesIndustry.biz. According to the statement, this restructuring is intended to concentrate internal resources on new content, feature additions, and updates.

According to Funcom, this restructuring is to prepare for a long-term transition to live service operations and the console launch scheduled for next year. The reason cited is to reorganize teams and focus resources across projects and the studio as a whole. Funcom did not disclose the specific number of layoffs and stated that the restructuring is currently in its early stages.

Funcom's Dune: Awakening is an open-world survival MMORPG that launched in June, selling 1 million copies in its first month and becoming the most successful game in Funcom's history. However, with recent Steam reviews recording 'Mixed' (62% positive out of 2,729 user reviews in the last 30 days), there is a growing trend of feedback regarding a lack of content.
